Are U of A’s Admission Standards Too Lax?

Yesterday’s NBA
Indiana -3 -111 (3) – Ind 113 Atl 96
Orlando -6 +104 (3) – Orl 103 Tor 90
Washington -2 -101 (5) – Mia 94 Was 87
As this game was winding down I thought to myself “man these 5 unit NBA plays are killing me”. This morning I actually did some research on the subject. My record on 5 unit NBA plays this year? 7-4. My record on the rest of my NBA plays? 25-35.
I guess my 2 and 3 unit plays need some work.
New Jersey +5.5 +100 (3) – Cle 106 Nj 82

Not pictured is the 12-0 run the Nets gave up to start the 2nd half.
Yesterday’s NCAAB
Eastern Michigan +6 -105 (1.5) – Uga 61 Emu 60
Eastern Michigan +5 +109 (1.5)
Lasalle +3 -111 (1.5) - F$U 65 Salle 61
Lasalle +2.5 -101 (1.5)
Tulane +21.5 +103 (1.5) – Tex 76 Tul 71
Tulane +22 -104 (1.5)
Youngstown St +22 -106 (3) – Mary 73 Ysu 49
Well it certainly didn’t take very long for last Friday’s CBB “luck” to even out.
San Diego -6 -107 (3) – Sd 65 Nevada 51
Cal St Northridge +12.5 -109 (3) – Stan 103 Csn 85
Is it bad form to complain about the way a game was officiated a mere two days after benefitting from this? Good. I didn’t think so.

Stanford shot almost 1 more FT per minute than the Matadors did. That is insane. When a 12.5 point dog shoots 62.5 % from the field, you expect to cover. End of story.
San Diego St +2.5 -110 (3) – Asu 59 Sdsu 52
A fairly standard mid-November Money Line college hoops result.
UAB +5.5 -106 (3) – Uab 72 Rizo 71
The end of this game was hilarious. I posted a clip below since most of you were probably asleep at 1:45 AM EST. It is definitely worth a view, although you can skip over minutes 1:00-5:00 without missing anything important. Let’s just say that the foul Kyle Fogg commits in the beginning wasn’t the dumbest Wildcat foul of the sequence.

What the hell is the announcer talking about “there was a play on, but it got called off”…
Why would a foul ever be a good play there? If you make a bucket, you don’t want to put them on the line to tie. If you miss, you sure as shit don’t want to foul.
So what kind of play would be on? Either way, awesome video. Thanks.
I have no clue what he was getting at either.
The kid obviously thought they were losing, which is ridiculous given the fact that his teammate had just made the same mistake a few minutes ago.
BC vs. Purdon’t, and Homo vs. UAB at the Garden next week.
Not the preseason NIT’s finest hour.
Did he think that they were still losing? A lot of these athletes (college and pro) just don’t think out there.
Are you kidding? They did it twice?! That’s not on the players at all. That’s on the coach. It’s the coaches job to remind the kid’s what the situation is, especially after a terrible mental mistake like that.
Not that it really matters – you posted the result correctly, but the score on your UT/Tulane game is off.
Boy, do I feel smart and awesome now.
Blaming the coach for Horne’s foul is a pretty hilarious way to look at it.
Is it not blatantly obvious that the game is tied at the end? I think that’s a little ridiculous to put that on the coach.
Pence – Isn’t that what internet message boards are for? To give everyone a sense of superiority over others?
What Pennell should have said???
“Now remember guys after Nic misses the ridiculously low percentage shot that I have drawn up for him, I don’t, I repeat, I don’t want you to try and make a shoestring tackle on the guy who grabs the rebound. I don’t care how close to half court he gets.”
Horne is also the first player to talk to Fogg after Fogg’s first foul, so you got to think he knew what the score was, right? Or maybe he was congratulating Fogg?
I put the first one on the player. But the same mistake second time by anoter player is on the coach for sure. These are 18-21 year old uneducated athletes. After the first mistake, he should have told all his players what to do in what situation. “If we miss the shot and they somehow get the rebound, DON’T FOUL!” It’s as simple as that. Yes, I put that second mistake on the coach for sure and it’s a very reasonable way of looking at it.

Forget what I just said. That’s exactly what he should have said. In those exact words too.
“These are 18-21 year old uneducated athletes.”
What makes them uneducated?
“he should have told all his players what to do in what situation.”
So when he was in the huddle and said, “Shoot the ball with little or no time left” it didn’t immediately click, for those that were still unsure, that the game was tied? I’ve known you wait till the last second if the game is tied since I was 10. You are right, these are 18-21 year olds, not 4th graders.
We don’t even know for sure if he said something or not. He may have, and the idiot may not have been paying attention.
Other things he should be make sure his “kids” understand during the limited # of timeouts that he has:
- Don’t take candy from strangers
- Don’t drink household cleaning supplies
- Don’t murder people
“- Don’t murder people”
I am pretty sure they cover this one at orientation.
Not at Baylor
I love among all the PIT/SD hub-bub that we’re still hearing about… this AZ game is overlooked by the mainstream media. The total on this game was 144.5. If it goes to OT at 142, obviously it goes over. By fouling, it stays under.
I’m not implying anything, because I doubt this guy is smart enough to tie his shoes let alone fix a game, but still… this is the stuff that makes you wonder and it’s completely ignored because it’s not the lead NFL game of the day.
If I was going to fix a game, it wouldn’t be an NFL game. A college BB total in mid-November???? Hmmmmmm…
“Not at Baylor”
You can’t expect these 18-21 uneducated children to retain everything.
