These have been placed over the last couple of weeks. See this thread for verification.
St. Louis Rams to win NFC West at +1275 (Risking 4)
Explained by VegasWatch here & here.
Naturally Rams’ players began dropping like flys within days of this action being placed.
4 units is a lot to risk on a long term, high variance proposition, but this is a ridiculously good spot for the reasons described in the links & more. The Rams have been legitimately terrible the past two seasons (5 wins!), but they improved subtly over the offseason and share a division with what I would argue are 3 overrated teams. It really does not get any better than that.
Kansas City Chiefs to win AFC West at +1500 (Risking 2)
Explained by VegasWatch here.
I don’t have anything to add to this one. The Chargers are going to run away with the division a good portion of the time, and that’s fine. I don’t have to be good here very often for this bet to be value.
If either one of the Missouri based NFL franchises does manage to pull a divisional crown from their asses, I’ll be taking a trip to Branson as my way of giving back to the state economy.
St. Louis Cardinals to win NL Central at +100 (Risking 2)
New York Yankees to win AL East -170 (Risking 2)
There isn’t a limit to the amount of money I’d risk on these. Given the opportunity, I would have sold all of my worldly possessions, maxed out my credit cards, taken out multiple loans, and put it all on these two props & the requisite hedges. Unfortunately Sportsbetting.com has low limits on futures, and they ended up changing the odds after I semi-politely asked for an increase.
I’m not suggesting that either play is a lock, but they’re both close. Edges this big aren’t supposed to exist.
